Hello and welcome.
We are happy to be able to bring kiln formed glass process workshops to everyone.
Based at Unit Twelve Gallery, Tixall, Stafford ST18 0XX. We are currently running workshops on the first and third Friday of the month.
Private party bookings for hen parties, baby showers, birthday parties, schools and corporate events. We can come to you or you to us! Prices vary depending on what you want to make so we offer a custom price on asking.
Children/ teens can also work with glass - you know your child best, if they can follow instructions sensibly they can take part. A parent/responsible adult is required to supervise during your child's session if under 12. Children as young as 6 years have made glass pendants at my workshops. Periodically look out for themed workshops ideal for children, especially around Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day.
Work made on these workshops are then taken back to my studio and fired in my kiln. Your work is expected to be ready for collection (or can be posted for extra charge) within two weeks of the workshop you attended.
All the workshops include all the glass, glass materials, metals, tuition and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment - such as gloves, mask and goggles)
At the three hour workshops you will be offered light refreshments such as tea, coffee, and biscuits/cakes. Please advise of any dietary requirements at time of booking.
Any questions please do ask.

Below is an overview of some of the workshops available;
Glass inclusions workshops cover the use of coloured glass, frits (grains of glass in various sizes), stringers (spaghetti like lengths of glass stings), as well as adding metals and foils (Copper, aluminium, gold and silver flakes). Previously made examples are available to view on the day and we will discuss the differences and how the firing process effects the glass.
Sessions that are based on this style of working are, the kids big and small, pendants and seasonal hanging decorations. We use Bullseye glass and accessory glass in these workshops.
Kiln carving involves creating a relief in glass via fibre paper (see picture above). You will have enough glass to create one larger piece or several smaller pieces. I recommend for your first try at this to opt for many variations so you gain a better understanding of the process. You will have the option of three different thicknesses of fibre paper to allow you to choose for yourselves giving you the freedom to create a design you wish to. We use float glass for this, you are welcome to bring your own glass to experiment with on this session.
All the PPE needed is provided includes, gloves, masks and glasses. Please advise of any allergies to latex.
The jewellery/pendant making workshop includes enough glass to make up to three pieces. Each piece you will be given the option to have a silver plated bail added to your piece after firing or add yourself an handmade silver hook into the glass. I do not provide the silver chain, I find the chain is a personal choice and the cost varies so much, so I feel it is best for you to find the right chain after you have made the pendant. We use Bullseye glass and accessories for these sessions.
Jewellery can be created in the full sessions or be offered for shorter sessions such as parties, hen, baby showers, corporate events and team building etc.

Directions to Unit Twelve:
Please be aware Unit Twelve is about 1/2 mile BEFORE sat nav says you are there (in rural areas all addresses have the same postcode) so start looking out for the signs a bit earlier. Directions are below or follow this link (map) (Unit Twelve is just up a farm drive where the pin is). From M6, Junction 14 follow the A513 signposted Uttoxeter. At roundabout by Staffs University follow signs for A518 (Uttoxeter), with the police station on your left hand side take the next major right, then first left at traffic lights. Approximately 1/2 mile on the left (see signs for hidden dips) is turning for Tixall Heath Farm and follow the signage through the farm to Unit Twelve.
If you are following sat nav you will need to look out for a bright pink sandwich board at the end of the farm drive (as it is a rural location so all houses have the same postcode in the this small area).
If you are coming from Stafford it is about a mile past the traffic lights (by the crematorium) on the left hand sign, directly after a sign for hidden dips (we are in the hidden dip).
OR if coming from Tixall, head through the village, towards Stafford, with the church on your left- we are about 2 miles on the right (again just after another hidden dips sign).
